What Can Dogs Eat:
Dangerous Dog Food Ingredients You Should Avoid

Most dog owners think very little about the products they feed their dogs. It is usually a trip to the grocery store, pick out the latest and greatest dog food product seen on television, and head home to dump it into the dog’s food dish.  This process is repeated over and over again by millions of dog owners.

Sometimes what a dog eats has nothing to do with buying a dog food product specifically for a dog. Many people just dump the leftovers from each meal into their dog’s dish thinking it will be sufficient for their dog’s diet.

I can assure you that responsible dog owners, who love their dog, know it is just as important to plan the diet and meals of their dog as it is to do for themselves or their family. However, it is also extremely important to know which dog food product ingredients to absolutely avoid at any cost. A few of these are listed below.

Always check every product, raw, commercial or others, that you are feeding your dog (or your family) for preservatives such as: Ethoxyquin, BHA, BHT, Propyl Gallate and Propylene Glycol. Remember that manufacturers are not required to list any ingredients that they did not put in the product. This means any preservatives that were in ingredients before they were added to the manufacturer’s product will not be listed on the product label.

Also check for fillers such as corn, corn gluten, corn meal and wheat. These ingredients are often added to build up the bulk of the product with very little regard for nutritional value. These fillers are very difficult to digest by dogs (and people). Many dogs also may have allergic reactions to these types of ingredients.

The first ingredients listed on any dog food product should be either meat or poultry. You do not want to buy products with any ingredients listed as road kill, animal byproducts or animal parts. Such ingredients may come from any source, from any where and at any time without regard to any disease or parasite. These types of ingredients can also cause your dog to have allergic reactions, increased illnesses and in some cases even the death.

Never give your dog raisins, grapes (both can cause instant or sudden kidney failure), high sugar products like candy or chocolate. If you have any doubt as to the safety of the food or treats you are feeding your dog then always consult with a veterinarian. Always remember that your dog’s life may be at stake.

You may want to consider feeding your dog a raw dog food diet. It is being recommended by more and more veterinarians each day. A raw dog food diet gives you complete control over what your dog consumes. It can also greatly reduce the incidents of illness and allergic reactions while increasing the health and appearance of your dog.

You can also learn a great deal more in Maggie Rhines' eBook, called “Going Rawr! Dog Lovers Compendium.” She fully discusses the methods of feeding your dog a raw dog food diet and how beneficial it can be to the well being of our dog. The ebook is a highly recommended resource among dog owners and veterinarians alike!

What Can Dogs Eat: Pregnant Dogs

Can pregnant dogs and puppies eat raw dog food? What do you think?
It is not actually a question. It is rather an answer. It has been known now for quite a while that adult dogs should only eat a raw dog food diet – this does not mean just any old raw canned dog food picked up at the local grocery store. This means a home made or a purchased raw dog food created by trained experts and manufacturers in the field of dog nutrition.

There are excellent reference books to show the dog owner how to create healthy and nutritious dog food recipes from the comfort of their own home. “Going Rawr! Dog Lover's Compendium" by Maggie Rhines is one highly recommend by dog owners and veterinarians
alike.

Over the past decades thousands, or maybe even millions, of dog owners have worried about the diet that should or should not be fed to their pregnant dogs and/or their puppies. These same thousands may also be dog owners that do not understand that all dogs, pregnant or otherwise, should always eat a raw dog food diet. As a matter of fact many of these dog owners have probably never tried feeding their dog a raw dog food diet.

Without a doubt a pregnant dog will greatly benefit from the complete nutrition of a raw dog food diet. It gives them the increased strength they will need to whelp their pups. In addition calcium taken from them for the development and strengthening of their pups will be replaced by a never ending cycle of feedings.

It is only natural for owners of a pregnant dog to also wonder if the whelped puppies should also be fed a natural raw dog food diet. It is best to wait at least three weeks while the puppies are nursing before slowly introducing them to a new dog food diet. Once the puppies are 3 – 4 weeks old you can try weaning them away from their mother with a milk diet of raw dog food and mild mixed together.

Naturally you will also want to always contact your veterinarian should any questions or medial situations arise.

If you really desire to learn even more in a kind of step-by-step way then try the excellent section in the fun and informative ebook titled: “Going Rawr! Dog Lover's Compendium" by Maggie Rhines. She thoroughly addresses the feeding of pregnant dogs, weaning puppies from their mother and how to help puppies adjust to raw dog food. There are also several appropriate recipes for both the pregnant dog and for the diets of the new puppies.

What Can Dogs Eat: New Innovations

Many people that absolutely love and adore their dogs know that feeding them raw meats and fish is the only way to feed a dog. However, there are millions of dog owners that do not know this.

For those that do know you usually hear complaints about the difficulties in storing raw dog food; especially when traveling. Many dog owners will actually not travel with their dogs as often as they might due to the dog food storage issue. And most of us will agree that a dog’s diet is always an important consideration. However, in today’s world there are new innovations in the storage of dog foods.

Consider first the innovation of utilizing frozen storage methods for dog food when traveling. There are hundreds of expert sources for obtaining raw dog food that has been frozen right after the slaughter and cleaning of the meat sources. And nutritional experts are improving frozen raw dog food content around the clock. This method of dog food storage insures that the dog food maintains all of its nutrients and freshness.

This form of storage also allows you to carry your dog’s frozen raw food in a simple Styrofoam carrier, where you can place dry ice to insure a longer storage period. Try purchasing or obtaining dry ice at the local ice cream outlet. Please be careful as dry ice can burn exposed fingers and skin. You will want to carry along a spare pair of cloth gloves.

Perhaps an even more desirable form of raw dog food is the innovations in dehydrated types of raw dog foods. These dehydrated raw dog foods receive the greatest and latest expert updates and they too retain their nutrients and freshness. The instructions for use are usually on the packaging; however, it usually only requires water to bring the dog food to a state ready for consumption by your dog. Storing the dehydrated dog food for travel is as simple as enclosing it in your dog’s travel bag. Always make sure you have an adequate amount to cover the length of your travel.

In this day and time of the Internet it is only a matter of ordering either of these products to be delivered right to your front door. Can you imagine dog food with no muss and no fuss? You do not even have to get out and waste the gas to make your raw dog food purchases.

I know you must be delighted to know that such innovations, and newer ones each day, are available for all those in love with their dogs. I would also recommend you stay on top of every thing you need to know about raw dog food feeding trends. Try reading the complete and full details in a snappy and informative ebook titled: “Going Rawr! Dog Lovers Compendium.” by Maggie Rhines.
